Opposition (180°)
Orb: 8° (luminaries 10°)
Two planets across the chart from each other — tension that demands integration.
Geometry
Planets sit at 180° to each other, on opposite sides of the wheel, almost always in complementary signs (Aries/Libra, Taurus/Scorpio, etc).
What it does
An opposition is the projection aspect. The planet you're less comfortable with shows up in other people, in situations, in relationships — until you own it as part of yourself. Oppositions teach by reflection.
Example in a chart
Sun opposite Moon: the conscious self (Sun) and the emotional self (Moon) pull in different directions. Born under a full moon. The work is integration, not picking a side.
When it forms in the current sky
An exact opposition transit often coincides with a relationship crisis or a moment of decision where two paths can no longer both be held.
