☉Sun
Core self · vitality · the will to be
Rules: Leo · Exalted in Aries · Detriment in Aquarius
The part of you that's still you in any room.
Mythology
The Sun has been the centerpiece of every astrological system that ever existed. In Greek myth, Apollo — sun-god — was also the god of clarity, music and prophecy: what's lit up is seen, and what's seen can be named.
What it means in a chart
Your Sun sign is your core operating system — the personality engine. It's not the whole chart (people who think 'I'm a Pisces' are reading the cover), but it is the spine. The Sun shows what energizes you and what depletes you. Living against your Sun feels like working with bad posture.
Retrograde
The Sun never goes retrograde from Earth's view — it's our frame of reference for everything else.
How to read it in your chart
Look at the Sun's sign for your fundamental character. Look at its house for the life area where you most want to shine. The Sun in the 10th: career-defined life. In the 4th: home-defined.
