♅Uranus
Rebellion · awakening · sudden change
Rules: Aquarius (modern) · Detriment in Leo
The lightning bolt. What flips your life when it needs flipping.
Mythology
Ouranos / Uranus — the sky father, oldest of the gods, castrated by his own son. Discovered in 1781 — right between the American and French revolutions. The planet of disruption was discovered as the world disrupted itself.
What it means in a chart
Uranus is generational on its face — it spends about 7 years in each sign, so a whole cohort shares it. But the houses Uranus transits in your personal chart are where it strikes. Where Uranus sits and where it's transiting is where 'I quit' or 'I left' moments happen. Sudden, irreversible, never according to plan.
Retrograde
Uranus retrogrades ~5 months a year. The disruption goes inward — you question authorities, structures, identities you'd been accepting. Often quieter than the direct transits but cumulatively transformative.
How to read it in your chart
Uranus sign = the generational rebellion you share with your cohort. Uranus house = the life area where you can't tolerate routine. The **Uranus opposition** at age ~42 is the textbook 'midlife crisis' transit.
